WARNER TO LAUNCH CAMPAIGN'S FIRST TELEVISION AD
~ Positive message features retired GOP Senate President Chichester ~

ALEXANDRIA, Va. - Friends of Mark Warner announced today that the campaign will launch a television commercial on statewide broadcast and cable TV on Monday night that highlights former Governor Warner's bipartisan success in balancing Virginia's budget while responsibly addressing record revenue shortfalls that ultimately reached $6 billion.

The ad features supportive comments from former Republican Senator John H. Chichester, the Virginia Senate president and chairman of its budget-writing Finance Committee until his retirement earlier this year after 30 years in the legislature. Chichester served in the Virginia Senate during the administrations of nine Virginia governors.

The Warner campaign's positive, 60-second message also includes comments from two prominentVirginia business leaders: Ben Davenport of Danville, a prominent Southside Virginia business leader who served as the 2006 chairman of the Virginia Chamber of Commerce, and Paula Gulak ofRichmond, vice president of Sycom Technologies, Inc., and the former chair of the Richmond Technology Council. The ad also includes comments from Sheriff Don Farley, an Independent who serves as the elected sheriff of Rockingham County and the City of Harrisonburg.

The ad references Virginia's designation as the "best managed state in the nation" by Governing magazine after an exhaustive, independent analysis in 2005, and TIME Magazine's selection of Governor Warner as one of "America's Five Best Governors" in 2005.

"This initial positive ad spells-out Governor Warner's track record in bringing all kinds of people together to find bipartisan, common-sense solutions, and that is the same approach he will take to the U.S. Senate," campaign manager Mike Henry said.

"Our message reinforces Governor Warner's proven style of leadership, and reminds everyone of the honest and responsible way he addressed the serious fiscal challenges facing Virginia when he was sworn-in as Governor in 2002," communications director Kevin Hall said.
